Position

Jose Maria is Partner and Co-Founder of Kennedys' Madrid office. He qualified in Spain in 1990. Jose Maria has extensive expertise in insurance and reinsurance matters. He specialises in procedural law, with more than 29 years experience in defence work and coverage litigation both locally and internationally. Jose is a skilled litigator and frequently appears before the Spanish courts at first instance and appeal hearings. In addition to representing insurers in civil cases, he also protects insurers' interests in criminal court when a claim for civil liability is included in criminal proceedings. Jose Maria's practice is particulary focused on construction, property and professional liability. He is also frequently involved in energy and general liability claims. He is an accomplished negotiator and has reached favourable out of court settlements on countless occasions. Jose Maria serves as an overseer for matters in Spain and Latin America.
