Career
Peter is a co-founder of STZ and a litigation & insurance partner, with over 25 years of insurance and litigation experience as a trial lawyer, dealing with claims that arise out of personal injury, accident benefits, Motorists Third Party Liability insurances and motor vehicles insurances, property and casualty, cargo, boating accident, carrier liability, commercial general liability, insurance fraud, excess and reinsurance as well as in life and disability claims. His other litigation experience includes administrative, commercial and civil disputes.
Peter started his legal career at a Bulgarian export trading company before moving to Bulstrad Insurance Company (currently Bulstrad Vienna Insurance Group) as an in-house lawyer for 13 years. He subsequently practiced almost 9 years as an independent attorney.
Peter has appeared before all levels of the Bulgarian courts acting on behalf of numerous insured persons in their claims against insurance companies concerning rejections for payment of compensations across the full range of insured perils, including Motorists Third Party Liability and motor vehicles insurances, accident and illness insurance, industrial fire. Peter has acted in many complex and high value matters involving multiple parties. He also has a wealth of experience in successfully negotiating on behalf of clients in court connected or private settlements.
On the insurer’s side, Peter has particular experience in, amongst others, defending of a major Bulgarian insurer in a number of claims, among others a carrier’s liability insurance claim and insurance fraud related claims amounting to over EUR 1.5 million and EUR 750 thousand. In addition, during his career at Bulstrad Insurance Company (now Bulstrad Vienna Insurance Group), he has dealt with a broad range of regulatory matters.
