Career

Gizem is an attorney at law and a registered trademark attorney before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. She specializes on intellectual and industrial property law, corporate and commercial law.

Mrs Akguloglu is representing many multinational clients in Turkey, engaged in a wide range of sectors, with a primary focus on fast-moving consumer goods, tobacco industry, defense industry (arms and robotics), technology, e-commerce, fashion&luxury brands. She is advising clients in implementing IP strategies in Turkey, managing major and multinational trademark portfolios, representing clients on registering and protecting their IP assets in Turkey. She is also active in protection of many well-known trademarks.

As Gizem manages brands active in strictly regulated sectors, she has a multidisciplinary legal approach in managing them. 

Gizem Akgüloğlu represents her Clients in all civil and criminal litigation proceedings for IP disputes, for all aspects of trademark, design and unfair competition law, patents and regularly represents Clients before all levels of courts in Turkey. Complex cases regarding termination and prevention of trademark infringements and invalidations of registered trademarks constitute the highlights of her expertise.

Gizem has extensive experience in advising foreign investors in establishment of Turkish subsidiaries, corporate governance, commercial contracts, mergers and spin-offs.

Mrs Akguloglu is a member of the International Trademark Association and a member of the Famous and Well-Known Trademarks Committee of the International Trademark Association. For many consecutive years, Gizem is being selected for WTR 1000 – World’s Leading Trademark Professionals.
