Career

Areen is a partner specialising in dispute resolution. He has over a decade of diverse experience in managing commercial disputes in the Middle East, gained through private and in-house legal practice in the region. His particular expertise is the preparation and conduct of litigations as well as arbitrations and dispute resolution for high profile development projects.

Areen has successfully represented clients in prominent and complex cases, including multi-million dollar arbitrations, before the International Chamber of Commerce, Dubai International Arbitration Centre and the London Court of International Arbitration. With regards to arbitration his specific focus is real estate, property and construction related disputes. He is a registered arbitrator with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre and is regularly called upon in this regard.

He has extensive experience in leadership roles, prior to joining Horizons & Co Areen was head of the disputes team at Dubai Properties Group, a leading real estate developer in the region. He was responsible for managing several sensitive and high-value disputes arising out of incomplete development and infrastructure projects.

Since joining Horizons & Co Areen has been the lead partner on and paramount to the success of a number of litigation cases throughout the firm. Being familiar with both civil and common law legal systems, Areen often implements his expertise on UAE law by providing legal advice and opinions to large international law firms regarding detailed subject matters.
