Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Corporate/Commercial, Shipping & Transport, M&A, Real Estate & Construction, Private Equity

Martin Tamme has extensive experience in all real estate, planning and construction matters, from planning and financing complex procurement and development projects, to complicated cases and disputes that encompass many different fields of law. His best-known cases involve construction of the Estonian War of Independence Victory Column in Tallinn; organisation of the compulsory demolition of a building carried out for the first time in Estonian practice by an administrative authority, and settlement of related disputes; carrying out a large-scale legal audit for the state-owned company Eesti Energia that analysed management board liability issues relating to the management exceeding the originally approved budget for the Enefit280 shale oil plant; and providing consultation to the creditors of GILD Arbitrage on restructuring debts and exercising supervision over management and realisation of assets.
He has long-term and extensive experience in advising railway operators and providing consultation in disputes over railway infrastructure charge both to transport operators and infrastructure operators. He is also experienced in insolvency matters, having advised creditors as well as bankruptcy trustees and bankruptcy committees in all kinds of matters related to insolvency. His experience in merger, acquisition and restructuring includes, for example, advising the reorganisation of Koger Projektijuhtimise, which was one of the largest reorganisation matters in Estonian practice and ended in the approval of the reorganisation plan by the creditors.
Martin Tamme is also leading the Estonian Bar Association’s best practice guidelines initiative to improve the effectiveness of court proceedings. The guidelines were developed by bringing judges, attorneys and prosecutors to a roundtable. After four years of preparations the guidelines are now implemented in the Harju County Court, Estonian’s largest court of first instance, as of January 2017.
As chairman of the Ethics and Methodology Board of the Estonian Bar Association, Martin Tamme is responsible for leading the Estonian Bar Association’s internal rules initiatives. In addition, he gives regular training on ethics, and drafts the Bar’s internal regulations for Bar exams.
