Recently promoted partner Crina Ciobanu heads the practice at Suciu Popa jointly with Miruna Suciu. Suciu Popa assisted Hidroelectrica with its IPO and advised clients such as ARO Palace, SIF Transilvania and Feper on issues including regulatory compliance, corporate governance and shareholder disputes. Miruna Suciu and Dan Ciobanu jointly head the department.

Commercial, corporate and M&A Tier 2

Suciu Popa predominantly acts for international clients in the FMCG, energy, oil & gas and infrastructure industries. The practice excels at M&A transactions as well as corporate governance, business restructuring schemes, joint venture structuring and privatisation. On the transaction front, it advised Enel Investment on its €400m acquisition of 13.6% of the share capital of E-Distribuție Muntenia and Enel Energie Muntenia from SAPE. Black Sea Oil & Gas received advice on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development becoming a minority shareholder of the client. Dispute resolution Tier 2

Luminița Popa heads the practice at Suciu Popa and is supported by recently promoted partners Roxana Fercala and Iulian Cioienaru. The team is reputed for its work on international arbitration and recently acted for Italy-based Enel Investment in an ICC arbitration against the Romanian state regarding a put option arising from a privatisation contract. In another highlight, the team acted for Dumor, a supplier of digital print finish equipment, in relation to counterfeit products and unauthorised import into the European Union. The group’s predominantly international client roster includes names such as Colas Group, Hidroelectrica and SIF Transilvania.
