Position

Bruce is chairman and head of the corporate group with strategic responsibility for the commercial and employment groups. He has built a solid reputation for being an expert in handling high value and complex corporate transactions. Bruce leads transactions very much from a commercial perspective drawing greatly from his time in commerce and he is able to manage and solve complex and challenging problems with a severe degree of commercialism. Bruce’s specialisms include dealing with sales, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, MBOs, MBI, shareholder agreements and LLP member’s agreements. In addition Bruce also has extensive experience in advising sp011s clubs, players, managers and administrators on legal matters. As to sports clubs, whether professional, semi professional or amateur the emphasis is in respect of sales, purchases, ground redevelopment and contractual matters. To quote counsel, David Lewis – ‘Bruce is a font of knowledge, with exceptional client management and most certainly the calm in the litigation storm.’

The team frequently works closely with the firm's corporate department in advising on TUPE regulations, redundancies and employee exits following sales and acquisitions. In one highlight, it acted for a claimant who was made redundant following her pregnancy; the case involved issues of discrimination and was settled prior to the tribunal hearing. Victoria Regan  joined the team from Dawson Hart in September 2017 and managing partner Bruce Hayter is also a key part of the team.
