Serious injury.

Louise is a partner in the serious injury team in the Sheffield office. She has over 15 years’ experience in dealing with complex injury claims, including brain and spinal cord injury arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work, assaults, abuse and general accidents. She has been involved in a number of high value settlements, including the case of Rowe v Dolman, which involved two appearances in the Court of Appeal and concluded with a value close to £6m. The case involved complex legal arguments around life expectancy, interim payments and the right to live at home rather than in institutional care. Louise is passionate about ensuring clients have access to the best possible rehabilitation and treatment in order to ensure their recovery is optimal. She is an integral part of restoring clients’ quality of life and guiding them through the litigation process, using it to help them to rebuild a positive future. Irwin Mitchell's personal injury team is split across the Leeds and Sheffield offices and has 'a well-deserved reputation for excellence' thanks to its 'wealth of experience and knowledge'. Recognised for 'excellent client care' the team, led by Adrian Budgen, is instructed in some of the most complex, serious and sensitive claims, and has the capabilities to offer financial and asset management advice; handle any family and child care matters; and leverage its strong public law team to advise on human rights and other issues. The practice also benefits from a strong court of protection team, which deals with clients' tax affairs; care needs, including house adaptations; and the preparation of trust and wills. Rachael Aram is described as 'fearless in promoting her clients' interests' and has particular expertise acting for claimants with brain injury and spinal cord injury. Louise Jenkins, also leads a serious injury team from the Sheffield office, and is praised for building 'amazing rapport with clients' and for successfully securing interim payments for accommodation adapted to meet their needs. Following Jane Wright’s retirement in May 2017, the firm's Leeds-based practice is headed up by Sion Kingston  and includes Carolyn Heaton  and Ian Toft , who lead the neurotrauma and asbestos diseases teams respectively.
