Hannah Clipston leads Irwin Mitchell’s commercial litigation team based in Gatwick, which has a focus on the manufacturing, financial services, technology, media and sports sectors, particularly regarding complex trust or company structures. The team is also increasingly handling international work. The commercial litigation team at Irwin Mitchell in Southampton acts on disputes for a range of clients across the financial services, manufacturing, tech, media and sports sectors. In recent months – owing largely to the pandemic – the department has taken on a number of business interruption claims, as well as cross-border shareholder disputes. Practice head Hannah Clipston is experienced in handling breach of contract claims and associated tortious claims, especially in the sports and leisure arena. Rob Coleridge concentrates on technical disputes related to design and engineering, while  Stephanie Reeves is recommended for her experience in professional negligence, shareholder disputes and risk management strategies.

Though able to advise various actors in the sector, Irwin Mitchell is best known for its work with individual sportspeople, whom it assists with medical negligence, serious injury and employment disputes. Gatwick- based Tom Barnard is one of the group’s key litigators, and co-leads the team alongside Hannah Clipston and tax adviser Michael Taylor, who operate from Southampton and Chichester respectively. In addition, the firm handles extensive non-contentious work which includes advising on commercial contracts, intellectual property and tax.
