Executive Partner.  Head of M&A and Corporate/Commercial.  Anna also chairs Private Equity, Technology and Communications, Media and Entertainment industry groups at Aequo.

Career

Regarded by industry experts as one of Ukraine’s leading transactional lawyers, Anna focuses on international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and general corporate commercial advice to private and public companies. Her transactional experience includes work on a number of the most complex, high value deals in recent Ukrainian history. She also represents clients in a broad range of matters related to setting up optimal structures for businesses in Ukraine.

Anna is a well-known practitioner in the sphere of corporate governance. In addition, she regularly advises national and international clients in connection with labor and employment issues arising out of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, and transfers of undertaking.

Her client base includes large national and international corporations, financial institutions and private equity firms operating in the CIS region. They acknowledge Anna’s ability to negotiate and defend interests of her clients.

Anna Babych is actively involved in drawing up and promoting legislative initiatives in corporate law, both within non-profit organizations (including Ukrainian Bar Association etc) and expert councils of the government authorities (Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, National Securities and Stock Market Commission).

She is one of the initiators and a key driver of corporate legislative reform in Ukraine, including LLC Law reform, a co-author of the Draft Law “On Limited Liability and Additional Liability Companies” as a member of the working group at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, and a co-author of the draft laws on shareholder agreements and improvement of corporate governance of joint-stock companies (squeeze-out and sell-out procedures).

Anna Babych collaborates with the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), is a member of the Advisory Board, and provides scholarships to the UCU Law School students. Besides, she is regularly engaged in educational activities for members of the Students League of the Ukrainian Bar Association, appears as a speaker at high-profile events in corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions (annual IBA and UBA conferences etc), and actively participates in dedicated committees of the Ukrainian Bar Association and of the European Business Association.

Anna is an innovation advocate who actively introduces the pioneering projects in the Ukrainian legal services market, including AEQUO Friends outsourcing platform and AEQUO Legal Tech Challenge.

Chambers Global/Europe has ranked Anna in the first band for Corporate/M&A. The Legal 500 EMEA has inducted Anna into its Hall of Fame. Anna has been named a Global Leader in M&A and Governance by Who’s Who Legal. Anna has been listed in a guide by the IFLR1000 – Women Leaders.
