Career

His practice focuses on administrative law and is recognized and respected as one of the most eminent practitioners in the fields of public law and taxation. He has represented numerous domestic and foreign entities and private clients over the last thirty years before the administrative courts and the Council of State. He also has vast experience in advising and providing legal opinions on all tax objects and international business transactions. He has been a member of the Greek Parliament (2015-2019). Previously he was the Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (since Sept. 2014), Dean of the School of Law (2009-2014) and Director of the Law School’s Department of Public Law (2009-2014).

– Member of the Special Supreme Court of Greece (2012-2013).
Chairman of the Association Franco – Hellènique (lycèe français Eugène Delacroix) (since 2010).
– Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Orchestra of Athens (2012-2014).

– A former member of the Hellenic Competition Commission (2000-2003), of the Board of Directors of the National Library (2008-2011), of the National Commission for Human Rights (2003-2006).
– He served for five years as an international expert at the Council of Europe, in Strasbourg, with many missions in eastern Europe and central Asia (1998-2003).
– He was awarded the French Decorations of «Officier de la Légion d’honneur» (2015) «Chevalier» (2006) and «Officier de Palmes Académiques» (2012) and «Guardian of the Law» of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa (2009).
