HVG appoints new partners

August 2016

We are proud to inform you that with effect of 1 July 2016, Leen Ketels and Peter Suykens are appointed partner with HVG. Together they will take over the leadership from Jan De Monie, who is retiring.

Biography Leen Ketels

Leen leads the tax controversy team. She started her career at the Brussels bar in 2004 and joined HVG in 2013. Leen has extensive experience in assisting and advising (domestic and international) clients with tax controversy issues, both at the administrative and at the court level. As tax litigator, she is experienced on complex tax litigation procedures and has pleading experience up to the level of the European Courts.

Leen is also a regular publisher of articles on tax law topics and contributed to several tax law publications. She has been speaker at several tax law seminars.

Leen obtained a Master in Law (2003) and a Master in Tax Law (2004), both at the University of Leuven.

Biography Peter Suykens

Peter is the corporate law leader for Belgium. He started his career in 2004 with EY and joined HVG as from its start in 2009. His experience includes large domestic and international reorganization projects, pre- & post-merger integration projects, legal entities rationalization and Operating Model Effectiveness support. With more than 12 years’ experience in providing legal advisory services to business, Peter has been lead legal counsel in numerous international and domestic reorganizations.

Peter is author of several articles regarding corporate law topics and a regular speaker at seminars.

Peter obtained a Master in Law at the University of Antwerp (2002). He also obtained an additional Master in Tax Law at the University of Antwerp (2003). Peter’s final paper was awarded the renowned TFR prize.
