Career

Richard graduated from Sheffield University in 1997 with a Honours degree in History. He qualified in 2004, became a Partner at Davenport Lyons in 2013, and joined Gordon Dadds in 2014.

Richard's practice focuses on general corporate and commercial work. He has extensive experience in advising on M&A, corporate finance, joint ventures, real estate structuring and finance, and general business affairs. The majority of the transactions on which he advises have an international focus.

He also regularly advises on matters relating to high value assets such as the sale/purchase and structuring of executive jets and luxury yachts.

Richard is active in the sports sector, advising business in the sports industry on corporate and commercial matters and speaking on the legal framework in which sports men and women operate.

Gordon Dadds LLP regularly acts for small to medium-sized private companies, including family businesses or companies owned by high-net-worth entrepreneurs, based both in the UK and abroad. The team is led by Alon Domb, who advised PR firm Modus Publicity, a long-term client, on the acquisition of the business and assets of BPCM London as part of a merger with BPCM. The practice also has extensive public company expertise; in a recent highlight, Rebecca Ferguson led the team advising on the firm’s IPO in August 2017. Other sector strengths include professional services; Richard Elliott acted for Prolegal Solicitors on the acquisition of Alen-Buckley, and senior associate Jenny Constable advised on the acquisition of CW Energy, a tax advisory business in the oil and gas sector, by Gordon Dadds Group. Stephen Fuller and Paul Toolan are also key members of the team.
