Career

Philip is a Partner at Gordon Dadds, specialising in both criminal litigation and alcohol and entertainment licensing law. After completing his LLB Hons law degree in Manchester, he pursued a career in law and was made a Partner at Blake Lapthorn in 2008. In 2012 he joined Davenport Lyons as Partner, before coming to Gordon Dadds in 2014. 

Philip has a wide range of expertise, including experience in alcohol and entertainment licensing, motoring offences, driving licence medical appeals, road safety and business regulatory defence, and have appeared in over 100 contested licensing hearing/appeals. With his motoring law practise, Philip has appeared on BBC Watchdog and on Radio 5 Live. Some of his speeding offence cases have made national headlines.

Gordon Dadds LLP's licensing practice is noted for handling a variety of work on breach of license cases, licence reviews and criminal proceedings on behalf of landlords and licensees. The group recently acted for The Oxford Union Debating Society in a successful application for a variation of premises certificate within Oxford City Council’s Cumulative Impact Zone, and acted for The Camden Town Brewery to obtain a new premises licence for its new site in Enfield.
