Senior Associate


Aymeric is a member of our Business & Finance group and is qualified both as a French Avocat and a Solicitor of England and Wales. He started his career in the Paris office of Ince & Co in 2008 and has also spent nearly two years working in our Hong Kong office.

His practice focuses on structured financings in the maritime and aviation markets, under both English and French law. He assists shipowners and banks with all aspects of structured finance deals, tax leases and export credit financings. He drafts loan documentation and related security packages (asset and non-asset based). 

Aymeric also assists with the drafting and negotiation of construction and purchase contracts for ships, yachts and aircraft. He has solid experience of the operational contracts relating to the operation of vessels, with a particular focus on charterparties and management agreements. 

Aymeric also has experience working on corporate transactions, including M&A deals and joint ventures. 

Aymeric obtained a Masters in European Business Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas and an LLM in International Business Law from University College London. He is recommended in the Ship Finance section of the Legal 500 for his “good technique”.

Recent cases handled by Aymeric include:
>  advising a shipowner on the refinancings of several bulk carriers under a French tax lease;

>  acting as owner’s counsel for the purchase and lease financing of a second-hand Global 6000 business jet;

>  advising a shipowner on the complex purchase and refinancing of nine distressed debt vessels;

>  acting as owner’s counsel for the purchase and debt financing of a newly built Gulfstream G650 business jet;

>  advising a major shipyard regarding the drafting and negotiation of several shipbuilding contracts, and providing related assistance for the implementation of the financing of the construction of these vessels;

>  assisting the lender with the refinancing of a 65 metre Lürssen motor yacht operating under a Maltese VAT leasing scheme;

>  assisting the lender with the pre- and post-delivery financing of a 90 metre Oceanco yacht under construction in Holland; 

>  assisting a French shipowner with the creation of a joint venture with a North African partner for the acquisition, financing and operation of a specialised tanker vessel.

International finance structuring is an area of particular expertise for Ince & Co France SCP , which also offers a well-rounded skillset to commercial and specialist operators alike. While instructions from lessees constitute the majority of the firm's recent caseload, the team is also adept at acting for lessors. Laurence Hanley directs the practice, with key support coming from the recently promoted Aymeric de Tapol. Recent standout mandates include advising Air France both on the financing of a B737-800 aircraft via a conditional sale and on the novation of nine lease agreements to its new subsidiary Joon, as well as several instructions regarding Japanese operating leases. Wijet and HOP! also feature on the client list. Andrew Charlier relocated to the firm's Monaco office.

Ince & Co France SCP is active across contentious and non-contentious work and also has notable yachting expertise. The group's recent litigation caseload consists of mandates arising from casualties, collisions, rescue and pollution work, and non-contentious highlights include chartering issues and the construction, sale and acquisition of vessels. Practice head Jerome de Sentenac, Mathieu Croix, Alexandre Besnard, Aymeric de Tapol and Vy-Loan Huynh-Olivieri form the core of the practice, and customs expert Freddy Desplanques is also noted. EDF LNG Shipping instructed the team to assist with the chartering of an LNG carrier from NYK including advising on the negotiation of the charterparty and ancillary contractual agreements. Ince & Co France SCP exclusively acts for shipowners, which it assists with a broad spectrum of financing instruments ranging from bilateral loan facilities to syndicated financings, lease financings and export credit agency financings. Led by Aymeric de Tapol, the team is especially active in matters in the luxury yacht sector and work with a cross-border element; the group recently assisted Louis Dreyfus Armateurs with the negotiation of the sale and leaseback of two bulk carriers with Norwegian investor Ocean Yield involving issues in France, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malta and Norway. Hapag-Lloyd, Société Générale Private Banking and new client EDF are on the client list. Andrew Charlier relocated to the firm's Monaco office.
