Amaka is a corporate and commercial lawyer with experience advising on a wide range of international corporate, commercial and financial transactions.
Her experience includes advising on joint ventures, M&A and restructuring deals, comprising core contract drafting, review and negotiation.
Amaka acts for a variety of clients including government entities, energy corporations, ship yards, ship owners and agents, drilling companies, oilfield services firms, bunker suppliers and offshore contractors.
Amaka has spent time on secondment at the Emirates Group as in-house legal counsel, advising Emirates Airline, Dnata and Dnata World Travel on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters both locally and internationally. Including negotiating and drafting external contracts as well as intercompany agreements, coordinating international expansion projects and liaising with licensing authorities and local counsel in several jurisdictions.
She has also spent time on secondment at UAE-based diversified conglomerate The Kanoo Group. Where she reviewed various RFPs- highlighting onerous terms and conditions, drafted distribution and agency agreements, prepared bank guarantees and advised on debt recovery strategies.
During her time at Ince she has gained significant experience drafting shipbuilding contracts, charterparties, and managing ship sales and purchases in the region.
In addition to the GCC region, Amaka has a particular interest in developments in Africa and other emerging markets.
– Advising a Dubai Governmental entity on its full suite of LNG Master Sales Agreements.
– Advising a governmental entity on the outsourcing of a retail division with AED 800million turnover.
– Advising a government entity on their expansion into the FSRU industry.
– Acting for a leading shipping company on the preparation and negotiation of bespoke shipbuilding contracts.
She is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).
She is a founding member of the Association of Women in Energy in the Emirates (AWEE).
