Position

Partner specialising in all aspects of French and EU competition law, advising on complex merger control procedures, cartel investigations, antitrust litigation, follow on damages claims and State aid before the European and French competition authorities and courts with a particular focus on sectors such as aerospace, energy, financial services, food and consumer goods.

Recent work includes advising: Campofrío in its leniency application before the French competition authority in a charcuterie cartel investigation; Banijay Group on its acquisition of Endemol Shine Group before the European Commission; Carrefour on its joint purchasing alliance with Système U in the mass retail sector; and France’s main banks in litigation proceedings before the European Court of Justice against a series of ECB and SRB decisions.

Career

Prior to joining BDGS Associés in January 2016 as co-head of the Competition / Regulatory department, Maria was a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP’s Paris office (2009 – 2016) and at Weil, Gotshal & Manges (2008-2009).
