Julia has strong trusts expertise and a particular interest in landed estates and heritage property. She has extensive experience advising on succession planning, trusts, wills, powers of attorney and probates. Her clients include landed estate families, business entrepreneurs and “Middle England” clients, most of whom are UK resident and domiciled, but often with international exposure. She is a trustee of a number of her clients’ trusts and charities.
She trained at Theodore Goddard and qualified in 1999. She was an assistant solicitor at Farrer & Co LLP from 2001-07 and then became a partner at May May & Merrimans (who merged with Hunters in 2015) in 2007.

Gregor Kleinknecht now leads the team at Hunters Law LLP. Kleinknecht has particular expertise in assisting European clients in historical and restitution claims. In addition he is a qualified mediator and arbitrator with Art Resolve. The multi-disciplinary offering advises auctioneers, valuers, dealers, galleries, collectors as well as public and private institutions on a wide range of contentious and transactional matters. Julia Richards is also recognised for her work on tax and trusts matters in this area, along with senior associate Petra Warrington who has a primary focus on the art and the antiques market. The former head of department, Hetty Gleave, is now at Fladgate LLP.
