Robert Colman - Howes Percival LLP

Within: Corporate and commercial: Norwich

Howes Percival LLP has a highly respected corporate and commercial practice that operates as one entity across its network of offices in East Anglia and beyond, but the Norwich office remains a central hub of the department and its lawyers act for numerous owner-managed and family-owned businesses, as well as for high-net-worth individuals in sales and acquisitions, investment transactions and corporate reorganisations. Robert Colman leads the practice and frequently handles acquisitions and disposals, as well as shareholder and investment agreements. He recently supported a client in entering a joint venture for the development and operation of a leisure site. Nathan Horton is the other partner in the practice and he acted for the shareholders of BBC Fire Protection Limited in the company's £8.3m sale to AIM-listed critical maintenance services provider Marlowe Plc. Associate Katherine Brown also played a key role in that transaction.

Within: Banking and finance

At Howes Percival LLP¬†'the service is exceptional, with a quick turnaround even on matters of complexity; the advice is pragmatic and not of the "ivory tower‚ÄĚ academic variety which has little relevance to the needs of the business client'. One client remarks that 'the firm is good value for money, particularly compared with other ‚Äúbig-hitters‚ÄĚ in the region'. Another says 'I rate them higher and consistently better than other local firms for property-related bank lending'. Commercial property partner Joanna Nicholls¬†and corporate partner Robert Colman¬†lead the practice, which focuses heavily on real estate finance. Nicholls is 'the epitome of quiet competence'¬†and property specialist¬†Tessa Haskey¬†is 'readily approachable and confident'. Steven Beach¬†is also recommended for advising banks and private lenders on property security matters. A recent highlight saw Haskey advise Svenska Handelsbanken on the grant of a development loan facility for two sites. She also acted for R Q Capital Limited, Winterton Capital Limited and Markerstudy Insurance Company Limited in securing a development loan.

Ukraine, like other European countries, developing a market economy on their territory, has incorporated antitrust regulations and legal mechanisms in its legislation to regulate and support competition, as well as rules to ensure fair competition. An integral part of the competition control is the control exercised by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine over M&A transactions both in Ukraine and abroad, which may also affect Ukrainian domestic markets.

  • Legal Consultants in Dubai: Discussing Legality of Verbal Contracts

A verbal contract is valued as much as the paper it is written on. While discussing and preparing for an important case, I found myself thinking the legalities of verbal contracts and the misconception towards their unenforceability.
  • DUE DILIGENCE: Importance In Acquisition

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) can be as critical as it seems exciting for any entity's growth and development. If successful, it can assist both the companies to gain a significant share in the market and earn profits. If not successful, it can lead to a different story altogether.
  • The Way Forward: Gender Neutrality and Gender Inclusion

The principle of equality between men and women is a fundamental value constantly on the European Union‚Äôs agenda.¬† Ample EU institutes, programmes, and legislation provide for gender equality, and case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (‚ÄėCJEU‚Äô) reaffirms the progress made in this respect. On a member state level, the enactment of gender neutral laws (particularly in the fields of inheritance law, marriage law, and employment law), may be considered as having reached its culmination in a number of EU member states, in the legal recognition of non-binary people. In turn, the European Parliament is now actively seeking to bring language evolution at par with gender inclusive legislation.
  • Abetting in Crime: Criminal accountability for parties involved

NOT JUST A CRIMINAL ACT WILL MAKE YOU A CRIMINAL So, the plan is that "A will enter the apartment wearing women's abaya with a key provided by C, B will wait outside in the car, and once we complete the act, we will keep the money at D's place." The plan is simple, and everyone is aware of their role in the act.
