Position

Partner. Steve's is the Firm's Head of Banking and Asset Finance his key areas of experience include acting for lenders and borrowers in transactional work including property finance, corporate acquisitions, trading businesses, development finance and asset finance. Steve has seen the finance industry from both sides having worked in banking for some 12 years prior to becoming a lawyer, which he did in 2002. One of Steve's main areas of interests is the healthcare sector having specialised in healthcare lending whilst in the finance industry and carrying on with that involvement from a lawyers perspective. The experience Steve has obtained working in the finance sector and then outside it acting for members of the finance industry is invaluable in giving him a commercial and pragmatic approach to transactional work.

Development finance and Islamic finance are key areas of growth for the 'supportive, responsive and pragmatic' team at Howard Kennedy LLP, which also handles senior and mezzanine lending, bridge finance and investment finance. It acts for a healthy balance of lender clients, including Santander, RBS, Metro Bank and Octane Capital, and borrowers such as Galliard Homes and Ballymore. Steve Clinning, who is 'always commercial, responsive and a pleasure to deal with', acted for Octopus Property on the £48m funding of the acquisition of the Sky building in Brentwood, completing the matter in just ten days; Clinning and Marcus Jamson also advised Neo Capital on the £50m acquisition of a property in Hammersmith. Daniel Fireman, 'one of the most knowledgeable and experienced solicitors in this industry', heads the practice, which also includes Samantha Hook. Nada Jarnaz joined from Taylor Wessing LLP.
