David is a partner in the construction team and advises on both contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering work. He is also head of the business services team.

David joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1992. He has been advising on construction/engineering law since 1990. 

Involved in many high profile projects relating to football stadia, a zoo, theatres, bridges/tunnels and various iconic buildings, David is also involved in project work including advising on, drafting and negotiating building contracts, consultants' appointments, collateral warranties and other security documents. He also deals with dispute work including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation.

David Chinn¬†leads the practice, which includes¬†Fionnuala Kenny, who¬†advises wealthy clients on all aspects of succession planning with a particular focus on trusts and settlements. Paul Baker¬†specialises in capital tax planning for UK domiciled and non UK domiciled clients and on trust and estate administration. Baker also advises on complex wills, estate and succession planning for owner managed businesses and charities in addition to international tax planning for high-net-worth clients. Highlights for the team include representing FAST Consortium, a joint venture contractor, on several contentious matters; advising FCC Elliott DAC on its involvement in major PFI scheme for the construction of a hospital; advising a major port authority on a dispute with its designers and project managers for a port infrastructure project; and advising Ion Projects on the construction of a ¬£40m mixed-use scheme. X1 Developments, FirstGroup and Peel Group are also clients.
