Career

Willem provides litigation services and advice in the field of trademark, copyright and advertising law. He represents well known companies throughout Europe in counterfeiting and other infringement matters. He is very experienced in coordinating European brand and marketing-related projects. In the Netherlands he litigates in conflicts regarding intellectual property and in cases about misleading and comparative advertising. Before joining Ploum, Willem was a partner with NautaDutilh and Simmons & Simmons. Willem is the chair of the organization that is responsible for the professional education of Benelux trad mark attorneys.

The practice is especially adept at representing clients facing enforcement actions by regulatory authorities and in fraud allegations. On the compliance side, the team handles imports and manufacturing of food and animal feed, as well as regulatory compliance issues related to import or manufacturing of products. The practice is also able to assist with IP-related issues, recalls or withdrawals, and product liability. Practice head Marijn van Tuijl is an expert in advising and litigating on issues related to manufacturing and international trade of goods.
