Career
Richard Lock is an English lawyer (also registered as a Hungarian lawyer, “ügyvéd”, at the Budapest Bar), with extensive experience of European and Hungarian cross-border investment transactions and of the corporate law matters that dominate our practice. A resident of Hungary for over 30 years, Richard leads the firm’s relationship with international law firms. Richard is ranked as “Eminent Practitioner” in Chambers Europe and Chambers Global. He trained at Burges Salmon in Bristol and worked for 5 years with Clifford Chance in London before moving to Budapest. He was a partner of Clifford Chance in 1996-2009 and a founding partner of Lakatos, Köves & Partners (“LKT”) when the firm separated from Clifford Chance in 2009.

Richard enjoys walking, gardening, and visiting museums and art galleries, and takes the opportunity to combine those interests with traveling to IBA meetings and law firm visits, nurturing relationships between lawyers, around the globe.
