Iaroslav has extensive experience in the fields of energy & natural resources, land & agricultural law, corporate law, and corporate governance. Iaroslav’s area of competence encompasses all legal aspects of M&A transactions (legal due diligence, share or asset purchase agreements (SPA/APA), corporate agreements, antitrust issues, project financing, etc.), investments (planning, consulting and structuring, regulatory matters, mechanisms for bringing in investments and profit repatriation, judicial protection, etc.) as well as business restructuring and litigation.

Arzinger‘s tax and customs litigation practice is led by Kateryna Gupalo, who is also the head of criminal law and business protection at the firm. Gupalo succeeded former practice head Pavlo Khodakovsky, who is now deputy minister of finance in the Ukrainian government. Counsel and head of energy Iaroslav Cheker leads the tax advisory practice. The firm acts for both Ukrainian and international clients, notably in sectors such as agriculture, IT, TMT, life sciences and healthcare, food and beverages, real estate and alternative energy.
Arzinger hired counsel Iaroslav Cheker from KPMG Law in Ukraine. The firm has a strong track record advising major private and state-owned energy and mining companies in Ukraine. The scope of its work includes antitrust investigations, corporate transactions, energy trading contracts, power sales and coal exports, as well as contentious matters.
