Jean-Guy de Ruffray, Partner and member of the Paris bar focuses his activities on IT law and intellectual property law, both as an advisor and a litigator.

He notably accompanies his clients in patent, trademark, and copyright law, as well as in data protection law, digital law, database licenses, contracts related to the exploitation of websites and mobile applications, etc., all with a strong international dimension.

Jean-Guy de Ruffray has taught within the certificate of specialization in intellectual property and new technologies and lectured on the themes “international aspects of intellectual property”, “arbitration and intellectual property” and “cybersecurity” with the Development Institute International at the DJCE (at Paris University, see https://djce.fr/ ).

He joined ADVANT Altana at its creation in 2009, where he was made partner in 2018. He began his career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. He is a member of INTA (International Trademark Association).

The IP team at ADVANT Altana represents French and international clients in trade mark litigation and cross-border disputes. Its broad scope of IP work includes the protection and valuation of trade marks, domain names, and designs, as well as IP enforcement before places such as the French and European Trademark Offices. Additionally, the team is highly experienced in trade mark portfolio management, alternative dispute resolution methods, and commercial IP arbitration. Practice co-chair Pierre Lubet is a highly experienced IP/IT litigator and often acts for clients in the manufacturing and luxury brand industries. He works alongside co-chair Jean-Guy de Ruffray, a specialist in IP litigation. He also represents clients regarding data protection law, copyright law, and patent litigation.

The group’s litigation practice includes search and seizures, infringement litigation and interim injunctions. Armand Aviges, Pierre Lubet and Jean-Guy de Ruffray head the practice.
