Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy specializes in business litigation and pre-litigation. She advises a French and international clientele made up of insurance companies, banks, industrial groups, accounting firms and auditing firms. More specifically, her areas of expertise include complex or group litigation, class actions, emerging risks (cyber risks) and the management of the often-related crises, be it shareholder disputes, product liability, or executive and bank liability.

Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy is an Expert Member of the Club des Juristes (the largest French legal think tank) and General Secretary of the Club’s Commission on Cyber Security.  “Insuring Cyber Risk”, the first volume of the Commission’s report, was published to wide acclaim in January 2018. The second volume has been published in April 2021.  She also teaches within the Master 2 – International Business Law program at the Université Paris Sud and frequently intervenes in the “Cercle des Administrateurs” (association of administrators).

ADVANT Altana dispose d’une équipe expérimentée qui a été retenue par le groupe mutualiste Aéma pour son acquisition d’Aviva France (d’un montant de 3,2 milliards d’euros). Le cabinet accompagne de grands assureurs (AXA, AIG), des réassureurs, des courtiers, ainsi que des entreprises sur la gestion d’une large palette de sujets. La pratique est emmenée par Gilles Gaillard, qui est expert en droit des assurances et en droit des sociétés, la spécialiste du contentieux Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy , et Frédéric Manin qui intervient en droit de la concurrence et en antitrust. Le champ d’expertises couvre les produits d’assurance, les sujets de conformité réglementaire, de cyber-risque et de protection des données, ainsi que les dossiers de responsabilité civile et de réclamation de dommages, et les opérations de fusions-acquisitions.

ADVANT Altana is able to deal with a broad range of disputes, acting for French and international companies, and is particularly experienced in disputes in the financial and insurance sectors. The practice notably acts for leading banks and insurers in high-stakes matters concerning loans, insurance and investment products, regularly involving a high number of plaintiffs. The practice also handles a good amount of commercial litigation, product liability and industrial risk cases in addition to assisting clients with M&A and corporate disputes. The firm’s insolvency and restructuring practice regularly handles strategic disputes, with Michel Jockey as the key contact. The practice is co-headed by Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy and Julien Balensi.
