The firm: With more than 45 years of experience and about 50 employees, BLS Attorneys at Law is among the leading medium-sized law firms in Austria. The firm possesses know-how in all legal fields and provides legal advice to both companies of all sizes and private individuals. In recent years its clientele has become more diverse and large corporations have increasingly been using it’s services. Within the market, BLS is recognized as a business law firm with its focal points being company law and litigation, with a strong profile in the technical field.

The independent certification body TÜV Austria Cert GmbH certified the business law firm’s quality management system, attesting to its practice and client orientation. BLS was the first Austrian law firm to undergo this examination.

BLS Attorneys at Law is the sole Austrian member of the international AVRIO Advocati European Law Firms Association, representing many clients internationally.

The firm’s practical application of its philosophy, namely to provide sustained and personal client support, has been recognized several times in recent years by many renowned trade publications, such as Corporate INTL, The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, among others.

Areas of practice: BLS’ key areas include litigation, insurance law, corporate law and finance, business and trade law, employment law, real estate law, and contract law. A separate team is dedicated to commercial non-performing loans. In recent years the firm has earned special recognition in the field of litigation. Both trade publications and renowned companies have placed their confidence in the law firm. Furthermore, BLS has received great recognition from judges in court due to its sound preparation and litigation.

Managing partner Mr Wolfgang Schubert, who also leads the litigation practice group, has gained experience in more than 3,000 court and arbitral proceedings. He is highly respected among lawyers and was a legal representative in both the Kaprun and Bawag cases, both cases being among the largest ever to go to trial in Austria.

Mr Philipp Scheuba is currently acting as a legal representative on behalf of a major D&O liability insurance company in connection with the Immofinanz scandal in Austria.

Mr Thomas Boller has established himself as a reliable and highly valued partner of many clients in labour law matters. Apart from Mr Boller’s focus on labour law, which has strengthened over the years, he is very invested in the field of corporate and finance law. One of his focal points is the legal advice and representation of both financial institutions and large and prestigious companies with respect to their financing and granting of securities.

Mr Franz Szyszkowitz covers a wide range of procurement matters, especially acting for bidders involved in purchasing disputes in construction and technology matters. Aside from this, he focuses on competition and insurance law.

Another advantage lies in the fact that as well as its legal knowledge, the firm’s lawyers have steadily built their technical and commercial know-how. It’s employees know that – especially in legal proceedings dominated by technical facts – it is necessary to be just as acquainted with the technical and commercial questions raised by the client as the client is itself, in order to be able to carry proceedings with the necessary precision.
