Piya Mukherjee is head of Horten’s insolvency and restructuring group. She is specialised in insolvency law and has more than 25 years’ experience in restructuring and winding up of ailing commercial enterprises. Piya advises Danish and foreign creditors with impaired exposures and provides legal advice to corporate management in connection with analysing financial difficulties experienced by commercial enterprises, drafting proposals for restructuring or winding up, carrying through restructuring and advising on directors’ liability.

Piya has many years’ experience in formal insolvency proceedings and often acts as trustee in connection with administration of insolvent estates and as liquidator in connection with compulsory dissolution of companies. She is official trustee with the Bankruptcy Division of the Danish Maritime and Commercial Court.

Divided between the firm’s Aarhus and Copenhagen offices, Horten’s restructuring and insolvency expertise runs the gamut of complex restructurings, distressed M&A and non-performing loan matters, creditor work, compulsory liquidations and bankruptcy matters. The team is led by Piya Mukherjee, who, as president of INSOL Europe, is particularly skilled at handling cross-border insolvency proceedings. Other key lawyers include Nicolai Dyhr, Ulrik Holsted-Sandgreen and Bo Christensen.
