Partner advertising law and food law

Ebba Hoogenraad was admitted to the bar in 1985 and has been focusing on the advertising law since 1989. From 1993 onwards Ebba is force to be reckoned with in food law. She is rightfully awarded the title “Leading Individual” for both Food and Media and Entertainment.

Clients particularly praise her to the point and practical advice, always focusing on what is possible. Ebba counsels many high profile national and international advertising agencies and brand owners on various aspects of advertising law, food law and intellectual property law. For example about precautionary allergen labelling (PAL), health and medical claims, label checks, food safety, sustainability claims, alcohol advertising. In addition, she regularly litigates before the Dutch self-regulatory bodies, civil and administrative law courts. Ebba enjoys biting her teeth in high stakes cases (with great success), for example about the fundamental question whether medical claims for food should be fined under the Dutch Medicines Act. Ebba assists clients when they are faced with enforcement actions (e.g. confiscation of goods, warnings, fines and recalls) by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).

Ebba is a frequent speaker at various food law client and industry events. For example, Ebba speaks at the annual VMT Food Law Event, where people from all parts of the food (law) supply chain, regulatory affairs, supervisory/enforcement bodies, lawyers etc come together and discuss the latest developments in food (law).
