Position

Alexander Ehlers advises the stakeholders in the healthcare system on all legal and strategic issues. His client base includes in particular national and international pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers. The advice covers all health policy and social law issues as well as questions regarding the reimbursement of medical services and pharmaceuticals/medical devices. Alexander Ehlers also advises companies on regulatory matters. Furthermore, his area of practice includes advising medical service providers in the outpatient and inpatient sector.

Career

Alexander Ehlers is Founding Partner and Senior Partner of the law firm Ehlers, Ehlers & Partner. He studied medicine at the universities of Dusseldorf, Heidelberg and Munich. While gaining practical experience as a physician, he studied law at the University of Munich.

He received his license to practice medicine in Munich in 1980 and his doctorate in medicine from the Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf in 1981. Until 1999, he worked in his own practice and was extensively involved in professional politics. Prof. Ehlers received his doctorate in law from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1986. Since his admission to the bar in 1987, he has been practicing law. In addition, he lectures at various universities.

Alexander Ehlers is a member of several professional organizations, including the German Association of Panel Doctors, the Health Policy and Communication Committee of the German Pharmaceutical Industry Association (BPI), honorary member of the German Managed Care Association (BMC), honorary president of the Society for Health Care Law and Policy (GRPG).

Alexander Ehlers is a member of various supervisory and advisory boards.

He teaches as Honorary Professor of Medical Law and Healthcare at the EBS University of Economics and Law, Germany.
