Finance & Insurance; ESG

Position

I am attorney-at-law, a senior associate with the firm’s Finance & Insurance team, and co-head of ESG service group in our firm. Having practised law since 2003, I have extensive experience in the field of regulation of the financial and insurance sectors, product development, distribution and related disputes. I advise clients on sustainable finance and ESG related matters.

Career

Sustainable finance and ESG. I specialize in sustainable finance and ESG (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, EU Taxonomy Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and related legislation). I advise financial sector companies regarding sustainable financial disclosure requirements, conduct trainings on ESG legal requirements for companies and business associations, work on renewable energy and sustainable transport financing transactions, and delve into the challenges that companies of various sectors face in implementing ESG requirements.

Regulatory matters of the financial and insurance sectors. I advise clients on financial and insurance sector regulatory matters, provision of financial and insurance services, acquisitions and mergers in the financial sector.

Financing transactions. I work on international financing transactions, including lending and security.

Experience in the insurance sector. I headed the legal department for the Baltics at one of the leading insurance companies in the region, at a time when the insurance sector was implementing new legal requirements related to the development and distribution of insurance products and the GDPR. I was also responsible for matters of corporate governance and dispute resolution. This experience enables me to understand the needs of clients in the insurance sector across different areas – from compliance with regulatory requirements, product development and distribution models to potential disputes.

Insolvency proceedings of credit institutions. While working as the Head of the Process Administration Division at state company Indėlių Ir Investicijų Draudimas, I represented the interests of the largest creditor, Deposit Insurance Fund, during the bankruptcy proceedings of insolvent credit institutions such as Bankas Snoras and Ūkio Bankas. I was also involved in the transposition of EU directives into Lithuanian law and represented Deposit Insurance Fund before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
