Competition & Regulatory, Data Protection

As a member of the firm’s Competition & Regulatory and Data Protection teams, Simona Vaitkūnienė uses her expertise for contributing to successful implementation of clients’ projects related to information technology and data protection. Being also a member of our Life Sciences & Healthcare team, she assists companies operating in this sector in solving regulatory questions. Additionally, Simona advises on regulatory aspects of the transport sector as well as general legal issues in contract law.

Data protection. As GDPR implementation is slowly but surely changing every company’s attitude about personal data, Simona has successfully completed several compliance projects for companies in retail and wholesale, pharmaceuticals, finance and manufacturing. Her everyday tasks include regular consultations for international companies on general documentary and procedural localization to meet local requirements.

Life Sciences & Healthcare. Initially, Simona assisted life sciences and healthcare sector companies in data protection issues, but quite soon this sector became one of her main focus areas. She advises sector clients on a wide spectrum of regulatory matters – from activity licensing analysis to identifying regulated procedures and assistance in implementing requirements.

Transport regulatory issues. For three years Simona worked at the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications, where her main responsibilities included drafting legislation regulating Klaipeda State Seaport as well as maritime and inland waterway transport. Although the lion’s share of her work concerned waterborne transport regulations, Simona was also responsible for implementing EU legislation and versatile projects related to other types of transport, allowing her to gain valuable skills in dealing with general transport regulatory issues.

General contract law. To maintain a sharp mind and avoid routine in narrow specialization, Simona regularly works on matters related to general contract law, including review and analysis of documents and identifying inadequacies and drafting amendments that best suit clients’ interests.
