Career

Edita Daukšienė has been practising law since 2009, with a more recent focus on competition law. She advises local and international clients on a wide range of competition law issues, such as anti-trust, merger control and state aid, and has considerable experience with projects covering all three Baltic states.

Clearance for Luminor. One of the most significant and challenging projects Edita has been involved with was merging the Baltic operations of Nordea and DNB banking business – the largest ever transaction in the Baltic banking market – where she was on the team dealing with pan-Baltic merger clearance.

Successful insurance merger. Edita advised Vienna Insurance Group in acquiring merger clearance from the Lithuanian Competition Council for the acquisition of Seesam Insurance AS. The process was complex and intensive, as acquisitions in the Lithuanian insurance sector are closely scrutinized by the competition authority. Nevertheless, several complex analyses performed together with the client and successful cooperation with the Lithuanian Competition Council resulted in merger clearance.

Wide-scope competition law advice. Edita has significant experience in advising clients on abuse of a dominant position, especially in relation to pricing issues, as well as anti-competitive agreements and other competition law matters. Her expertise covers diverse sectors, such as financial services and insurance, pharmaceuticals, energy, food production and distribution, telecommunications and other industries.

State aid matters. Edita has significant experience in state aid issues, for example advising a leading international energy company in relation to state aid granted by the Lithuanian authorities for developing combined heat and power plants in Lithuania. As a team they are currently advising the Lithuanian authorities in European Commission proceedings concerning alleged unlawful state aid.

Experience from Lithuanian competition authority. Edita previously worked at the Lithuanian Competition Council as Chief Expert in the Dominant Undertakings and Mergers Supervision Division for nearly three years. Her responsibilities included conducting dawn raids, investigating cases of alleged abuse of dominance and handling merger notifications. Valuable experience and knowledge gained while at the competition authority helps her provide high quality advice for clients today.
