Ms Dalia Augaitė
Finance & Insurance
As a senior associate with Sorainen, Dalia Augaitė primarily consults financial institutions, insurance firms and other companies on investment products and issues related to capital markets. Over the past decade, the regulatory environment has changed considerably for investment service providers, so it is her inspiration and passion to help them build their business in challenging times. Dalia navigates clients through regulations applicable to providers of investment services and issuers of financial instruments, and also advises on investment insurance and the pension system.
Understanding of business needs. Dalia began her professional career as an in-house lawyer and has 13 years of experience in the Lithuanian banking sector, working for Swedbank and SEB. She coordinated and led the investment and insurance law departments at SEB bank where she was involved from the legal side in projects such as MIFID I (the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive), EMIR (the European Market Infrastructure Regulation) and the launch of the Euro in 2015. Therefore, Dalia sees understanding business needs and possibilities as the cornerstone of providing legal advice and possible solutions.
Leading major projects. Since joining Sorainen in 2016, Dalia leads Sorainen Finance & Insurance team in diverse projects related to bond issues, including advising Lietuvos Energija on issuing EUR 1 billion worth of green bonds, the first tranche of EUR 300 million primarily listed in Luxembourg and NASDAQ Vilnius Stock Exchange, as well as advising a local bank on proper implementation of MiFID II.
Improving capital market and insurance legislation. Dalia has been involved in diverse regulatory projects that helped the Lithuanian capital market to evolve and appreciates the opportunity to be a link between business and regulators. As an in-house lawyer, Dalia usually represented the Association of Lithuanian Banks at the country’s financial regulatory authority, FSA, the Ministry of Justice or the Ministry of the Interior. She also contributed to transposing the provisions of the EUs Insurance Products Distribution Directive into national law and defining requirements for insurance market participants and for distribution of life insurance products. She now advises the Ministry of Finance on the new Securitisation and Covered Bonds Law being prepared by an expert team including the EBRD, Sorainen and Richard Kemish Consulting. Dalia also served on the expert team providing proposals on improving the investment environment for institutional investors.
