The key areas of Santa Rubīna’ expertise are insurance, banking and finance, capital markets and investment funds. Having practiced law since 2008, she has helped clients in regulatory matters, transactions and product development.

Assisting insurers. Santa has advised insurers in product development or adapting insurance products for the Latvian market. Additionally, she has assisted foreign insurers in claims handling, including development of claims handling strategies and representation in court.

Daily support to financial market. Santa offers daily consultations for financial market players. This signifies a wide spectrum of client work, including advising lenders on issuing loans, structuring security interests and complex regulatory advice.

Project manager skills. Santa Rubīna has experience in managing Latvian and pan-Baltic teams in complex and challenging client assignments. She loves these projects, as they give an opportunity to test one’s limits and think outside the box.

Knowledge in M&A.  Santa has advised clients in M&A transactions on insurance and banking regulatory matters, including assisting during the legal due diligence process. As a result, she has developed experience with bank business sales and loan portfolio sales.

Drafting legislation. During her career Santa has advised the Latvian Insurance Association on drafting the insurance contract law and the Latvian Venture Capital Association in liaising with state institutions during implementation of the AIFMD (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive), and has also been involved in developing and implementing covered bond regulation in Latvia.
