Career

As an associate with the firm’s Corporate and Dispute Resolution practices in Latvia, Toms Vilnis has established, reorganised and liquidated numerous companies, implemented corporate changes, and represented clients’ interests in insolvency cases and other disputes.

Helping the start-up community. Toms provided legal assistance in setting up the Latvian Startup Association (Startin.LV), and drafted templates for company establishment documents and agreements available to the start-up community free of charge at startuplatvia.eu.

Assisting with reorganisation and acquisition. Toms Vilnis assisted Primekss, one of the most innovative Latvian companies in the building industry, with the corporate reorganisation of two of its group companies in Latvia, with the aim of optimising group setup. In addition, he assisted with the acquisition of Paroc Group by Owens Corning, and the acquisition of payment processors First Data Latvia by French payments company Worldline.

Defending freedom of the press. Together with other colleagues, he helped regional newspaper Bauskas Dzīve in a dispute with the municipality-owned and -funded newspaper, Iecavas Ziņas. Their assistance included legal proceedings in the Latvian courts and a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights.
