Career

Piret Lappert is a long term member of our Corporate and M&A team, starting out in 2007 and still continuing as the work provides new challenges every day. She has advised major institutional and private investors on M&A and corporate law matters.

All stages covered. Piret has worked on company acquisitions and joint ventures, taking part in all stages of a transaction: negotiating letters of intent, conducting legal due diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction documents, and finally assisting with both closing and post-closing matters to ensure smooth integration.

Resolving consumer disputes. Before joining Sorainen, Piret worked at another law firm for nine years and during that time co-chaired the consumer dispute resolution committee of the Estonian Consumer Protection Board.

Historic transactions. Piret Lappert has been privileged to be a part of many of the landmark merger cases in the Baltics, including Nordea and DNB combining their Baltic operations to create Luminor bank. She was also on the team, which provided comprehensive legal assistance to PZU in acquiring Baltic insurers Lietuvos draudimas (Lithuania), Balta (Latvia) and Codan Forsikring (Estonia) from RSA Insurance Group, notifying the acquisition to the Council, separating PZU Group’s operations in Latvia and Estonia and transferring shares in PZU Lietuva to Norwegian insurance company Gjensidige Forsikring.
