Costs and Financial Operations

Position

Luke is the Finance Partner in the Financial Operations team at Bolt Burdon Kemp. He joined Bolt Burdon Kemp in July 1999 as a costs draftsman. By 2003 he was managing the firm’s Costs team, dedicated to maximising costs recovery for BBK clients.  In April 2009 Luke was extremely proud to become the first Non-Lawyer Partner of the firm, later qualifying as a Costs Lawyer in January 2011.

Whilst Luke continues to be very passionate about costs law and maximising financial performance across BBK, his role has evolved to encompass all financial aspects of the firm.

Career

Having trained as a freelance costs draftsman in 1994 Luke subsequently joined Bolt Burdon (as it was then known) in July 1999 where he continued his career in costs. In around 2003 he was made head of the department and in April 2009 invited to become partner. Luke has contributed to training DVDs for Legal Network TV commenting on ‘the CFA costs war’ and costs capping and is also a speaker at APIL/ACAL events on such topics as the Jackson reforms.
