Itay Geffen is a partner at Gornitzky & Co. and leads the Infrastructure & Project Finance team and the Energy & Natural Resources team.
Itay has vast experience of almost two and a half decades in a wide range of more than 30 mega infrastructure projects in Israel, in various sectors, from transportation, industrial and energy (including renewable energy) to non-commercial / accommodation projects.
Itay has negotiated finance agreements, concession agreements, EPC and O&M Agreements, exploration contracts, land acquisition transactions, licensing agreements, PPAs, PFI agreements as well as public procurement transactions. Having deep and broad expertise, positioning him at the top (or, as a matter of fact, at the frontier) of the Project Development practice in Israel, Itay is one of the most renowned projects lawyers in Israel and is the lawyer of choice for many of the leading sponsors in Israel.
Notable projects in which Itay took an active role are:
Transportation – Cross Israel highway, the Carmel tunnels, TLV LTR, Jerusalem LTR, TLV Fast Lane, Road #431, Road #531 and others;
Industrial – Ashkelon Desalination Project, Hadera Desalination Project, Soreq Desalination Project, mechanical and biological municipal solid waste (“MSW”) treatment facility, pneumatic solid urban waste collection system and others;
Energy (including renewable energy) – 110 MW thermo-solar power plant, 120 MW PV plant, two 300+ MV pumped energy plants, 200 MW CHP plant, 25 wind turbines farm and others;
Non-commercial / accommodation projects – Israel national police Academy, IDF training centre; private prison, students’ dormitories, court houses and others.
In addition, Itay represents Shefa Yamim, the only company in Israel holding gem stones exploration permits, in all legal aspects which involve the Israeli exploration regulator in the Ministry of Infrastructure, antitrust law, tender law, zoning, permitting and real estate legal aspects.
