Position

Simon is a partner in the Goodman Derrick corporate department and specialises in all aspects of corporate, finance and commercial legal work. In the public company field this has included advising companies and financial institutions on public takeovers, flotations, reverse takeovers, rights issues and regulatory matters. In the private company field he has advised companies on transactional M&A, including business sale and purchases, joint ventures, some of which have been of a very substantial nature, as well as private equity transactions and fund formations. Simon has also experience of project and financing transactions acting for both banks and corporates on their financing transactions. Simon has particular expertise in a number of areas and has advised clients in the chemicals and industrial, energy and minerals, technology, pharmaceutical and healthcare and financial sectors. Simon has regularly acted internationally for a range of domestic and international clients and, in recent years, he has advised on transactions in Western and Eastern Europe, USA, Russia, Kazakhstan, the far East, West Africa and the Middle East.

Among other highlights, Paul Webb acted for the shareholders of Adsensa on the sale of 100% of the share capital to US technology company Exari Group; Edward Hoare advised Pavilion Books Group on the acquisition of the Pitkin Publishing imprint and related trade and assets from The History Press; Dominic Prentis, who joined from Gowling WLG in January 2018, assisted AIM-listed wealth management firm AFH Financial Group on the acquisition of financial planning business Eunisure; and Jessica Nugent advised Simmons Bar Group on the £10m sale of a majority stake in the company to a private equity-backed purchase vehicle.
