Career

Shaparak is an expert in commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration, and has practised in these areas for more than twelve years. She has advised numerous European and American oil companies in arbitration proceedings against a North African State-owned oil and gas company, and has represented major companies in the aeronautics, space, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and construction industries both before arbitral tribunals and state courts. Shaparak has broad experience in post-arbitration litigation before French courts, having represented clients in some twenty setting-aside proceedings. She was also involved in proceedings enforcement of numerous awards against sovereign States, most notably in the Yukos case.

Boutique sérieuse dédiée à la résolution des différends, Teynier Pic abrite une équipe bien expérimentée de plus d’une douzaine d’avocats qui a récemment accueilli en qualité d’associée Shaparak Saleh, auparavant counsel au sein de Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. Le cabinet, qui combine un fort savoir-faire en matière contentieuse et d’arbitrage, a récemment été particulièrement présent devant les tribunaux français pour traiter des dossiers d’exequatur. Il agit ainsi pour Zakhem dans le cadre d’une procédure d’annulation d’une sentence CCI accordant 50 millions d’euros de dommages contre Sonatrach. Il est également le représentant de Japan Tobacco Industry dans un contentieux d’exequatur d’une sentence CCI face à BAT dont les enjeux sont de 22 millions d’euros. Le cabinet est également en charge d’arbitrages commerciaux et d’investissement, en lien notamment avec des projets industriels et le secteur des télécoms africains. Orange et l’état du Cameroun font régulièrement appel au cabinet. Teynier Pic is one of France’s oldest established international arbitration and commercial litigation boutiques. The firm grew in 2019 with the arrival of several new associates and counsel Sara Nadeau-Séguin, who joined from Woods LLP. The team handles commercial and investment arbitration disputes, involving various parts of the world, notably Africa and the Middle East, dealing with various issues including construction. It is appointed by many leading French and international corporations as well as Algerian, Lebanese, Iranian, Turkish and Jordanian companies. The group is also handling a high amount of exequatur cases pertaining to high-profile arbitration disputes. Eric Teynier, who acts as counsel and arbitrator, heads the practice.
