It is well versed in negotiating agreements with utility suppliers, as well as advising on supervision, construction, and EPC contracts. Contentious issues are another notable strength of the practice, working in tandem with the firm’s litigation department. Tomasz Darowski leads the construction team, specialising in infrastructure investments and related contracts, as well as frequently representing clients in related disputes. Also of note is Marcin Krakowiak, who heads up the infrastructure and energy team. Other recommended names include senior associates Kamil Pociecha and Michal Przychoda, both experienced in advising contracting authorities and involved in settling disputes over investment contracts. Counsel Beata Cieszyńska is a key point of contact for entities operating in the infrastructure, energy and defence sectors.

Poland > Energy and natural resources

Domanski Zakrzewski Palinka‘s infrastructure and energy practice stands out as a key resource for entities operating in the conventional power, renewable energy, nuclear and cogeneration sectors, including major domestic and international energy producers. The team has substantial experience in advising on complex issues related to mining, infrastructure and waste management projects, and offers guidance on state aid, PPP and construction law issues within the energy sector. The team is led by co-led Rafał Hajduk, who ‘accurately combines knowledge from different fields of law and branches of the economy‘; recently, he has been increasingly active in advising on renewable projects, such as onshore and offshore wind and solar matters. Marcin Krakowiak shares leadership responsibilities with Hajduk, bringing particular expertise in greenfield investments to her role. Paweł Grzejszczak and Katarzyna Kuźma are also noteworthy, with the latter heading up the public procurement and environmental protection teams and serving as a key contact for energy companies seeking advice on these matters.

Poland > Public procurement

Leveraging its ‘true understanding’, the team at Domanski Zakrzewski Palinka handles matters across the full spectrum of Polish and EU public procurement, concessions and PPP issues. Contractors bidding for public contracts in a range of sectors, from energy and construction, to healthcare and defence, turn to the team, which has recently advised on some of the most complex PPP projects on the Polish market. Spearheading the practice are the ‘fully hands-on’ Katarzyna Kuźma, a key point of call for clients in the construction, energy, and waste management sectors seeking advice on infrastructure investments, and Marcin Krakowiak, who also serves as the infrastructure and energy department head. Tomasz Michalczyk is lauded by a client for his ‘creative solution-oriented attitude’ towards guiding contractors and contracting authorities through all stages of procurement procedures, particularly in the road and rail sectors. Wojciech Hartung specialises in issues involving public-public cooperation and competition law matters, while Tomasz Krzyżanowski, a recent addition to the team from Traple Konarski Podrecki & Partners, is experienced in the IT and TMT sectors. Marcin Gajdek regularly provides advice to clients with a focus on the Spanish market.
