Sorin David is the Managing Partner of D&B David si Baias, coordinating a team of 50 lawyers in providing legal advice and support to foreign and Romanian clients mainly in the areas of corporate and commercial, banking and finance, restructuring, competition.
Sorin has been a member of the Bucharest Bar since 1991. He is an arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Sorin has legal qualifications obtained in Romania (PhD, summa cum laude), USA (Master of Laws) and the Netherlands (post-graduate studies). He is also a professor at the Bucharest University, the Faculty of Law since 1991, teaching commercial law (including company law regulations) and competition law (antitrust and unfair trade practices).
He is the author of more than 20 law journal articles published in Romania or abroad. He is co-author of ’Commentaries on Company Law’, one of the leading law books on Romanian company law, that was awarded the Romanian Academy prize. Sorin has been involved in several projects for the alignment of Romanian legislation with EU regulations and international best practice. He is a leading authority in Romanian competition and corporate laws.
Sorin David has advised a significant number of clients acting in various fields, such as energy, telecom, oil and gas, cement, FMCG insurance, and represented some of them in negotiating and closing some of the largest Romanian transactions in these fields. He has been involved in many projects in these areas of activity, providing legal advice to clients on various matters. He designed and coordinated restructuring projects in respect of Romanian companies or Romanian subsidiaries of international companies.
