Marijn joined Höcker Advocaten and was admitted to the bar in 2013. Before that, she was a clerk for the Discrict Court of Amsterdam.

A particular focus on the area of collective management of rights means that the ‘highly qualified‘ team at Höcker Advocaten counts notable music, audio-visual and literary rights collecting societies among its longstanding clients. A recent example of such work includes defending Dutch music collecting society Buma/Stemra in litigation claiming that the client acts unlawfully by not preventing bars from using Spotify or other online consumer streaming services as sources for their music. Willem Roos, co-practice head with Jacqueline Seignette, is recommended as ‘a very good lawyer, imaginative, creative, very intelligent‘. Marijn Kingma, who made partner in January 2019, ‘gives very clear, straightforward advice and is always on top of every problem‘.
The team at Höcker Advocaten provides a blend of IP, media, data protection and IT expertise across advisory and contentious matters. Clients include Dutch and international electronics and media corporates and government agencies. Practice co-heads Jacqueline Seignette and Willem Roos have extensive experience advising on the impact of new technologies on literary, music and other art forms. Newly promoted partner Marijn Kingma has a client roster, which ranges from software startups to well-known media and entertainment corporations.
Höcker Advocaten has recently seen several high-profile public law cases come through its doors, with recent instructions concerning environmental challenges to government bodies, and expropriation of assets, matters in which Koos van den Berg has been heavily involved. Practice head Marc Wolters is another key figure within the team, specialising in complex corporate litigation, while newly promoted partner Marijn Kingma focuses her practice on copyright, privacy, and other media and information litigation.
