Ron has experience in national and international tax disputes. His focus is on VAT, tax penalties and tax-related criminal law (FIOD-cases). He also represents clients in a variety of tax related litigation proceedings. He has published articles on various VAT related subjects, such as exclusion of evidence in tax procedures based on EU legislation.

Ron has worked at Hertoghs advocaten since October 2014 and has been registered as an attorney since July 2015.

“For me working at Hertoghs means always being thoroughly prepared and thinking of all the different angles. To quote Niccolo Machiavelli, ‘The lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves’.”

Ron studied tax law, specialising in indirect taxes, at Maastricht University. During his studies he was actively involved in the Law Faculty and the university, while also working at a large firm of tax advisers and attorneys to gain experience of tax and tax litigation in practice. After graduating he joined Hertoghs tax attorneys, where he specialises in criminal tax law and indirect taxes.

Ron works in Dutch, English and has a good knowledge of Portuguese.

Ron holds a Bachelor degree in Tax Law from Maastricht University and a Master degree in Tax Law from Maastricht University (with a specialization in VAT and Customs).
