Zofia Duszynska is a director in the immigration department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. She specialises in asylum work, representing victims of torture, human trafficking and gender-based persecution as well as those excluded from the protection of the Refugee Convention.

She has wide experience of litigation in the Administrative Court and Court of Appeal as well as in the First-tier and Upper Tribunals of the Immigration Asylum Chamber. She is committed to providing access to justice to the most vulnerable in society and regularly represents detainees in their judicial review challenges against immigration detention or removal to their countries of origin/to other EU countries under the Dublin Regulations.

Zofia has established a reputation for obtaining international protection in the UK for adults and children who have been trafficked for domestic servitude, sexual and labour exploitation. She was a founding member of ATLeP (Anti-Trafficking Legal Project) an information network of lawyers and specialist practitioners assisting victims of trafficking.

A recent notable includes the ‘Covid case’ concerning the accommodation of asylum-seekers displaying Covid-19 symptoms.


Zofia joined Duncan Lewis in 2015 and was appointed partner-level director in 2017. Prior to this she spent 12 years working as an asylum and immigration lawyer in the voluntary sector.


Zofia is accredited as an Advanced Level Immigration Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Scheme. She is also a member of ILPA and a convenor of ILPA’s Refugee Working Party.


Zofia has both a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (GDL) as well as a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma in Marketing and a BA in Applied Language Skills (French and Russian).
