Mr Laurent Sablé
Laurent Sablé joined UGGC in 2017 as he was attracted by the firm’s team spirit. Indeed, partners work closely together on cases and offer transversal practices to our clients, wherever they are located in the world. As a lawyer practicing in different jurisdictions, the international perspective of UGGC seemed essential to him.
Laurent has an international practice and assists clients more specifically in certain fields, such as real estate, tourism, projects and infrastructure, agribusiness and distribution law.
In Morocco, Laurent has developed a practice covering advice in connection with financing transactions, corporate finance activities, transnational mergers and acquisitions and also international arbitration. He also advises clients on topics related to the OHADA Law and takes part, alongside Ali Bougrine, in the development of UGGC in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Focused on the needs of the clients, Laurent advises them on all the aspects of the company’s life, both in terms of consulting and pre-litigation management. More specifically, he also has a recognized practice in sports law, both for federations and for clubs and sportsmen.
UGGC Africa provides support to a number of overseas-based employers in relation to labour law matters concerning their operations in Morocco. Ali Bougrine, Jean-Jacques Uettwiller and Laurent Sablé, who split their time between Paris and Casablanca, are the key partners. Their recent work included assisting Sienna Investment Group, which owns the Ritz-Carlton Rabat and Tetouan Hotel, with employment matters arising from a hotel management contract.
The Casablanca office of UGGC Africa predominantly focuses on corporate transactions, but it also acts on project finance transactions arising from the firm’s involvement in PPP projects. It also advises clients in the banking and finance sector on local regulatory matters. Ali Bougrine, Jean-Jacques Uettwiller and Laurent Sablé are the main contacts, with Sablé taking the lead on corporate and project finance transactions both in Morocco and across north and west Africa.
UGGC Africa‘s lead partners are Laurent Sablé and Ali Bougrine, who work closely with the firm’s Paris office to handle litigation and arbitration cases in Morocco, the MENA region and the Middle East. They also handle cases in jurisdictions covered by the OHADA Treaty. The team is best known for its involvement in international litigation cases, as well as ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings. The firm is currently representing Ciments du Maroc in an ongoing international arbitration.
UGGC Africa has a growing workload of M&A, PPP, private equity and competition law matters, and it also advises on commercial contracts. The firm’s Africa desk handles work across the MENA region and is highly active in francophone Africa. Ali Bougrine, Jean-Jacques Uettwiller, Laurent Sablé and Corinne Khayat are the most prominent practitioners in a large corporate practice that works between the Paris and Casablanca offices.
