Ruth is specialized in regulatory insurance law and advises Spanish and international insurers. Her profound experience in the insurance sector – Ruth is an Insurance Inspector of the State on sabbatical leave – has allowed her to acquire admirable skills in the supervision of insurance companies, corporate operations, as well as contractual matters and insurance mediation. She has been Assistant Director of Insurance and Legislative Policy of the Directorate General of Insurance and Pension Funds (DGSFP), and prompted the drafting of the new laws on the supervision of private insurance, insurance contracts and mediation. She has been in charge of the Service of Institutional Relations and Communication, and has monitored European insurance companies operating in Spain, both under their right of establishment and freedom to provide services, within the Legal Department.
With a wide range of knowledge of the European and Latin American insurance market, Ruth advises on corporate operations, including authorization procedures, transfers of portfolio, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures or group reorganizations, as well as business development or distribution strategies. She has also specialized in contentious matters, mainly in relation to high risk insurance.
