Björn has been a partner at Gernandt & Danielsson since 2015 and co-heads the firm’s banking & finance practice. Björn has more than 17 years’ experience practising in the areas of financing, restructuring, capital markets, and private equity in a number of different sectors. He has also had secondments in London and Moscow. Björn is frequently engaged by clients and universities to provide training and teaching on, among other things, company law and capital markets law.

Gernandt & Danielsson Advokatbyrå’s financial services practice handles the full spectrum of banking and finance mandates, with particular strength in syndicated and bilateral debt financings, direct lending, off-balance sheet financings, securitisations, and MTN and EMTN programmes. The team has considerable regulatory expertise as well as experience in the sustainable finance space. Björn Svensson focuses on corporate, leveraged and asset-based borrowing finance work, leading the group alongside Sofie Viktorsson, who has 15 years’ experience in leveraged and investment grade financing, acting on both the borrower and lender side. Mikael Bolling is well regarded for his experience in complex multijurisdictional mandates. Nils Unckel left the firm in June 2023 to join Advokatfirman Vinge.

Gernandt & Danielsson Advokatbyrå’s restructuring and insolvency practice focuses on high-end work, including cross-border contentious matters involving multi-layered capital structures. With a dedicated debt capital markets restructuring team, aided by experienced finance lawyers, the group is well known for its expertise handling distressed DCM transactions, particularly for bondholders. Björn Svensson and Sofie Viktorsson jointly lead on the debt/equity restructuring side, while Mikael Borg heads up the DCM restructuring department alongside Caroline Jägenstedt Wikman. Mikael Bolling plays a key role in the team, leveraging his expertise in high-yield bonds as well as leveraged, structured, and asset financings to advise on restructuring mandates.
