Firm Profile > BEITEN BURKHARDT > Frankfurt, Germany

Non-profit Tier 2

BEITEN BURKHARDT has longstanding experience in advising foundations on a variety of issues: additionally to its expertise in foundation administration, succession planning and tax law, the team works particularly closely with the firm's M&A practice and often assists with shareholding aspects of transactions. Another main focus of the practice is the representation of foundations and non-profit organisations before courts and authorities. Gerrit Ponath, who is well versed in a multitude of foundation and association-related legal issues, and Lucas van Randenborgh, who stands out for his tax expertise, jointly head the group, which also includes Guido Krüger and Katharina Fink; both are highly adept in corporate succession planning.

The team proactively considers whether it makes sense to involve another department. When in doubt, colleagues are directly contacted.

Gerrit Ponath’s quality of advice and efficiency in finding the right solution are outstanding. His sound, extremely broad knowledge makes him stand out.

The segments fintech and big data constitute particular areas of growth for the practice. Employment Tier 3

Working in conjunction with various other offices and practices is just as important for BEITEN BURKHARDT's employment law team as its international approach and individual lawyer specialisations. Since March 2019, the team has been under the leadership of Wolfgang Lipinski, whose focus on collective employment law leads to regular instructions on the strategic planning and subsequent implementation of reorganisation and restructuring measures. Thanks to the team's broad set-up, it can draw on a wealth of experience: Daniel Hund has particular expertise in employee data protection and Christian von Buddenbrock frequently handles company pension matters. Christopher Melms, who led the team before Lipinski took over, provides regular advice on collective bargaining and works constitution law. Public procurement Tier 3

With Frank Obermann at the head of its Government & Public Sector practice group, BEITEN BURKHARDT exclusively focuses its procurement advice on the contracting side, thereby following an integrated, cross-office approach. The group advises on all procurement, public law as well as contractual and corporate aspects of projects of the public authorities. Industry focuses include the IT, infrastructure, health, energy and transport sectors and also increasingly the arms and defence industries, where the group assists public contracting authorities on federal and state level.

The team is always attentive, one word is enough and the rough circumstances of an issue are even known by the receptionists, who can then easily provide information about the people or particular documents in the firm.

Good availability. Led in a structured manner. A competent contact is always available.

Lars Hettich – technically on very high level, looks ahead, strategically positioned. Topically always on track and argumentatively very convincing. Herr Opheys is technically also on a high level and strategically positioned. Topically always on track and argumentatively very convincing.

If someone had to invent procurement law all over again, I would suggest Lars Hettich. Working with him demonstrates that his knowledge of procurement jurisprudence, ranging from A like advertisement campaign and C like international currency to F like furniture factory and P like plant engineering, is up-to-date. The file management is meticulous and if worse comes to worse, one can rest assured that everything is verifiable.
